Why it matters

A contract changes everything

In Spain, employing a nanny without a contract is not just risky, it is illegal. But beyond the legal side, a contract creates something more important: commitment. A nanny with a formal agreement is invested in your family. Responsibilities are clear. Expectations are agreed on. There are no grey areas.

Most families have never employed someone in their home before. We handle the contract together with our Legal Partner, explain the costs, and walks families through the Social Security registration step by step.

A clear process from start to finish

about me

hi, i’m myrna

I spent ten years as a professional nanny, working with families in New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Spain. I cared for newborns through the night as a night nanny in Amsterdam, and I worked with families like those of musician James Keogh (Vance Joy) and Olympic sailor Jason Waterhouse in Australia. Over 50 families in total, each one teaching me something about what great childcare really looks like.

I started The Nanny Collective because I kept seeing the same gap. Families wanted someone they could truly trust with their children, but the agencies matching them felt impersonal, rushed, or focused on volume. I knew it could be different, because I had been on the other side. I screen nannies the way I would want to be screened. I match families the way I would want to be matched. And I stay involved, because I know the first weeks matter most.

common questions

Things families often ask

  • Gross salaries for full time nannies typically range from €1,500 to €3,000 per month, depending on hours and experience. This is the nanny's salary before deductions, and does not include the employer's Social Security contribution, which is paid on top. The full cost breakdown is discussed before any commitment. This is the nanny's salary, separate from our placement fee.

  • Yes. In Spain, anyone working in your home must be registered under the empleo de hogar regime, regardless of hours. Beyond the legal requirement, a contract creates real commitment. Responsibilities, hours, and expectations are agreed upfront, which is better for your family and for the nanny.

  • Typically around six weeks from the first call to a confirmed placement, depending on your timeline and how specific your requirements are.

  • With the full package, there is a 3 month replacement guarantee at no extra cost. Support continues after the placement to make sure everything is working well.

  • Every nanny goes through document verification, reference checks, police clearance, and a thorough in depth interview. The interview goes beyond qualifications and focuses on values, warmth, and how they genuinely connect with children. Only nannies who meet professional standards are presented to families.

  • Yes. After I present candidates, you meet them in person and can arrange one to two paid trial days before making your decision.
