Who we are

We Are Hello Baby is the trading name of Myrna van Vliet, a self employed trader (autónoma) registered in Spain, NIE Z0821651G, based at Passeig del Mare Nostrum 15, Ciutat Vella, 08039 Barcelona. We are the data controller for the information described here, and you can reach us at hello@wearehellobaby.com.

The information we collect, and why

When you join our free email list. If you sign up on our Sleep Conversations page, we collect your email address so we can send you the free guide you asked for, a short welcome series of emails, and, from time to time, other We Are Hello Baby emails. You sign up by entering your email and confirming that you would like to hear from us. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.

When you buy a guide. When you buy a digital guide, our website platform Squarespace processes your order for us. This includes your name, email address, billing details, and the details of your purchase, so we can take payment and give you access to your guide. Payment is handled by Squarespace Payments and its payment partners (including Stripe and wallets such as Apple Pay), and we do not see or store your full card details.

When you contact us. If you email us, we keep your message and our reply so we can help you and keep a record of what was discussed.

When you use our website. We collect basic, aggregated information about how our site is used, through Squarespace's built in analytics, so we can see what is working and improve the site. If you have accepted advertising cookies, we also use the Pinterest tag to measure whether our Pinterest ads led to a visit or a purchase. More detail on cookies is below.

Cookies and similar technologies

Essential cookies keep the website and checkout working and remember your cookie choices. These do not need your consent.

Analytics. We use Squarespace's built in, first party analytics to understand and improve our site. We do not use this data for advertising and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. You can object to analytics at any time through our cookie settings.

Advertising. The Pinterest tag sets advertising cookies that let us measure the results of our Pinterest ads. Advertising cookies need your consent, so the Pinterest tag only runs if you accept non-essential cookies. If you decline, it does not run. You can change your choice at any time in our cookie settings.

Our cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies with equal ease, and nothing non-essential is set until you choose.

The lawful bases we rely on

To deliver your order and give you access to your guide, and to take payment: performance of our contract with you.
To send you our free guide, welcome emails, and newsletter after you sign up: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
To email existing customers about similar We Are Hello Baby guides: our legitimate interest in telling you about related products, with an opt out in every email and at the point you gave us your details.
To keep our website working well and improve it, including first party analytics: our legitimate interest in running and improving our service.
To run advertising cookies such as the Pinterest tag: your consent.
To reply to your enquiries: our legitimate interest in helping you.
To keep financial and tax records: our legal obligations.

Who processes your data for us

We use trusted providers who process personal data on our behalf: Squarespace (our website, shop, order processing, analytics, and Squarespace Payments), MailerLite (our email list and emails), and Pinterest (advertising measurement, only with your consent). Some of these providers may process data outside your country; where they do, this is covered by appropriate safeguards such as an adequacy decision or standard data protection terms.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for behavioural retargeting or share it with advertising networks for their own purposes.

How long we keep your data

Order and payment records: 6 years, to meet accounting and tax obligations.
Email list data: until you unsubscribe. We review inactive subscribers every 24 months and remove those who are no longer engaged.
Enquiry emails: 24 months after your query is resolved.
Website analytics: held in aggregate by Squarespace under its own retention settings. We ask for your cookie choices again periodically.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, which does not affect anything done before you withdrew it. To make any of these requests, email hello@wearehellobaby.com.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to a data protection authority. In Spain, where we are based, this is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es). If you are in the UK, you can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We would appreciate the chance to help first, so please do contact us.
